Crochet a STRIPED & RIBBED Beanie – Cascade Yarns FOUR SKEIN Challenge – Beanie 2
This easy, no tails, ribbed and striped beanie is surprisingly easy to make! Follow along as I show you step-by-step how to crochet this beanie
This pattern is a part of my Cascade Yarns four-skein challenge. With this challenge, my goal is to create patterns that will allow you to use up EVERY INCH of these skeins of yarn without leaving any behind! This series features five beanies: 3 adult beanies, 1 child beanie, and 1 baby beanie. Don’t forget to check out my scrap yarn beanie if you have a bunch of small amounts of yarn lying around you need to use up!

Beanie 2 Pattern:
Crochet Hook: H/8/5.00MM
Yarn: 4 Medium Wool, Cascade Yarns, Colors: Natural & Alpine
Attach yarn to crochet hook using a Magic Circle (MC).
Row 1: CH 2 and place 11 DC inside MC. SL st in 1st DC to join (11 total DC).
Row 2: Place 2 BACK POST st around each st in the row – including CH 2 at the end of the row. SL st into 1st BACK POST st to join (24 total BACK POST st).
*Alternate colors by placing a safety pin in the loop on your crochet hook. Attach Color B to crochet hook using a slip knot and insert crochet hook in same st where you joined the last row. Yarn over and drop all the loops on your crochet hook.
Row 3: CH 2 (this counts as 1st DC st), then place 2 DC in the following st. *1 DC in the next st, then 2 DC in the following st.* Repeat * around the row. SL st in 1st DC to join (36 total DC st).
Row 4: *1 BACK POST st in st 1 – 2, 2 BACK POST st in st 3.* Repeat *around the row. Last BACK POST st should be worked around CH 2. SL st in 1st BACK POST st to join (48 total BACK POST st).
*Alternate colors by placing a safety pin in the loop on your crochet hook and insert your crochet hook in the previous loop of Color A. CH 2, then place 1 SL st back in the same st where you just joined the last row.
Row 5: CH 2 (this counts as 1st DC st), then place 1 DC in the following 2 st. *1 DC in the next 3 st, then 2 DC in the following st.* Repeat * around the row. SL st in 1st DC to join (60 total DC st).
Row 6: *1 BACK POST st in st 1 – 4, 2 BACK POST st in st 5.* Repeat *around the row. Last BACK POST st should be worked around CH 2. SL st in 1st BACK POST st to join (72 total BACK POST st).
*Alternate colors by placing a safety pin in the loop on your crochet hook and insert your crochet hook in the previous loop of Color B. CH 2, then place 1 SL st back in the same st where you just joined the last row.
Row 7: CH 2 and place 1 DC in each st in the row. SL st in 1st DC to join (71 total DC st).
Row 8: Place 1 BACK POST st in each st in the row – including CH 2 at the end of the row. SL st in 1st BACK POST st to join (72 BACK POST st).
*Alternate colors by placing a safety pin in the loop on your crochet hook and insert your crochet hook in the previous loop of Color A. CH 2, then place 1 SL st back in the same st where you just joined the last row.
Rows 9 – 24: Repeat Rows 7 & 8, alternating your colors every 2 rows.
Rows 25 & 26: Cut and tie off last color used in Row 24 (should be Color B). Repeat Rows 7 & 8 with Color A, crocheting over the tail in Row 25.
Cut and tie off Color A yarn and hide the tail up the inside of the beanie.
