Hanging Basket Crochet Pattern!

Crochet Hook:N/15/10MM.
Yarn: Size 4, Medium Weight (Lion Brand Yarns Re-Up, Recycled Cotton & Polyester Blend).  Can use any yarn, but need two strands.
1 Stitch Marker (can use safety pin or scrap piece of yarn).

*NOTE: this crochet basket is worked using TWO strands of yarn simultaneously as if they were one strand.  You can use any yarn (I encourage you to use scrap yarn).

Attach yarn to crochet hook using a Magic Circle (MC).

Row 1: CH 1, then place 1 SC + 12 DC inside MC.  No joining SL st needed, as this is a spiral or continuous loop pattern.

Row 2:  Skip the CH 1 & SC st, then place 2 DC in each st in the row, starting with the 1st DC.  Make sure you mark the 1st DC of this row with the stitch marker  so you know where your row ends (24 total DC).

Row 3: Place **1 DC in st 1, then 2 DC in st 2.** Repeat this alternating pattern around the row (36 total DC).

Row 4: Place **1 DC in st 1 – 2, 2 DC in st 3.** Repeat this around the row (48 total DC).

Row 5: Place **1 DC in st 1 – 3, 2 DC in st 4.** Repeat this around the row (60 total DC).

Rows 6 – 14: Place 1 DC in each st in the row (60 total DC).

Row 15: Work 10 SC stitches over the handle of your choice, then place 1 DC in the remaining stitches in the row (60 total st).

Rows 16 – 18: Place 1 DC in each st in the row, make sure you work in the top of the SC stitches you worked over your handle.  The handle should be on the inside of your project for now, and that is okay.

Row 19: Place **1 DC in st 1 – 3, then DC 2together in st 4 & 5.** Repeat around the row (48 total DC).

Row 20: Place **1 DC in st 1 – 2, then DC 2together in st 3 & 4.** Repeat around the row (36 total DC).

Row 21: Place 1 SC in each st in the row (36 total).

Place 1 SL st in the next st to taper off the spiral, then cut and tie off the yarn.

Hide the tail on the outside of your basket using a smaller crochet hook, then turn the basket inside out.
