Striped Baby Beanie Crochet Pattern:
Crochet Hook: F/5/3.75MM
Yarn: 4 Medium, Worsted Weight, Big Twist Value brand, Camel and Khaki
Attach KHAKI yarn to crochet hook using a Magic Circle (MC).
Row 1: CH 1, then place 1 SC + 5 DC inside MC. Pull yarn loop out long and remove crochet hook. Attach CAMEL yarn to crochet hook using a slip knot. Place 1 SC + 5 DC inside MC with CAMEL yarn. Tighten tail to close the gap in the MC (You should have 1 SC and 5 DC in each color).
Row 2: Still working with the CAMEL yarn, place 2 DC in each of the KHAKI stitches in the row, beginning with the KHAKI SC st (use a stitch marker to mark the 1st DC of this row – you should have 12 total CAMEL colored DC stitches). Pull yarn loop out long and remove crochet hook. Insert crochet hook in the KHAKI loop and place 2 DC in each CAMEL st in the row until you reach the st marker (you should have 12 DC in each color, 24 total).
Row 3: Remove st marker and still working with KHAKI yarn, place *1 DC in st 1, 2 DC in st 2.* Use a stitch marker to mark the 1st DC of this row. Repeat * until you reach the end of the CAMEL yarn (18 total KHAKI DC st). Pull yarn loop out long and remove crochet hook. Insert crochet hook in the CAMEL loop and repeat * until you reach the st marker (you should have 18 DC in each color, 36 in total).
Row 4: Remove st marker and still working with CAMEL yarn, place *1 DC in st 1 – 2, 2 DC in st 3.* Use a stitch marker to mark the 1st DC of this row. Repeat * until you reach the end of the KHAKI yarn (24 total CAMEL DC st). Pull yarn loop out long and remove crochet hook. Insert crochet hook in the KHAKI loop and repeat * until you reach the st marker (you should have 24 DC in each color, 48 in total).
Rows 5 – 18: Place 1 DC in each st in each row, allowing the two yarn colors to crochet over each other in a spiral. At the end of Row 18, make sure the two yarn colors each have 24 DC so (so they are on opposite sides of the beanie from each other).
Finish off the beanie by placing *1 HDC in st 1, 1 SC in st 2, and 1 SL st in st 3. Then cut and tie off yarn, hiding the tail up the inside of the beanie.* Repeat * with other color.
