How to Crochet a Sunglasses Case Pattern:
Crochet Hook: G / 6 / 4.25mm
Yarn: 4 Medium, Big Twist Value Brand, Cream
Row 1: CH 14, turn.
Row 2: 2 SC in BLO of st beside current st, then place 1 SC in the BLO of each st in the row (14 total st).
Row 3: Turn slightly to work in the FLO from Row 1. Place 1 SC in the FLO of each st in the row (14 total st, 28 total st in the round). SL st into the 1st SC st from this row to join.
Row 4: CH 2, place 1 DC in the BLO of the current st, then place 1 DC in the BLO of each st in the row (28 total st + CH 2). SL st into the 1st DC st to join.
Row 5: Working the FLO of the st in Row 3, skip 1 FLO, then place 1 TR in the next FLO. Working back in the top of the st, place 1 SC in the next 3 st. *Place 1 TR in the same FLO as previous TR. When 2 loops remain on the crochet hook, yarn over, skip 3 FLO, then insert crochet hook under the 4th FLO. Yarn over and pull up through the FLO, yarn over and drop 2 loops, then yarn over and drop 3 loops. Working back in the top portion of the st, skip 1 st, then place 1 SC in the next 3 st.* Repeat * around the row. Join the last two st by placing 1 TR in the same FLO that you have already worked. When 2 loops remain on the crochet hook, insert the crochet hook under the 1st TR from this row and yarn over and drop all the loops on the crochet hook. SL st into the top of the 1st TR.
Row 6: CH 2, place 1 DC in the same st, then place 1 DC in each st in the row (28 total DC + CH 2). SL st in 1st DC to join.
Row 7: Place 1 TR under the previous TR that forms the peak located directly below crochet hook. When 2 loops remain on the crochet hook, yarn over and insert the crochet hook under the 2 TR that form the next peak. Yarn over and draw up through the 2 TR, yarn over and drop 2 loops, then yarn over and drop 3 loops. Working in the top portion of the st, skip 1 st, then place 1 SC in the next 3 st. *Place 1 TR under the 2 TR that form the peak that we previously worked in (the latest peak). When 2 loops remain on the crochet hook, yarn over and insert the crochet hook under the next 2 TR that form the next peak. Yarn over and pull up through the 2 TR, yarn over and drop 2 loops, then yarn over and drop 3 loops. Working back up in the top portion of the DC st, skip 1 st, then place 1 SC in the next 3 st.* Repeat * around the row. Join the last peak with the first one following the above repeated pattern. SL st into the next st.
Row 8: CH 2, place 1 DC in the same st, then place 1 DC in each st in the row (28 total DC + CH 2). SL st into the top of the 1st DC st, then SL st into the following st (this should like the crochet hook up with the peak).
Rows 9 – 23: Repeat Rows 7 & 8.
Row 24: SL st into each st until the crochet hook is lined up with one of the natural folds. CH 25 and skip 13 st. In the 14th st, place 1 SL st. Working AROUND the CH st, place 25 SC. SL st into the same st that the chain stitches are coming out of. Working on the side of the handle that we did not place the SL st, place 1 SC in each st between the handle. When you reach the opposite side of the handle, place 1 SC in each st that forms the handle (25 SC), then working on the side where we previously placed our SL st, place 1 SC in each st between the handles.
SL st into the same st that we originally place our CH stitches, then cut and tie off yarn. Weave tails up the inside of the sunglasses case.
