How to crochet a wine tote? In this crochet tutorial, I show you how to crochet a wine tote for regular-sized bottles.  This wine tote has extra cushion, so it should also act to protect your wine bottle during travel. This wine coosie is a perfect gift bag to accent any bottle of wine or liquor.

How to Crochet a Wine Tote:

Yarn: 4 Medium, Big Twist Value, Eggplant
Crochet Hook: G / 6 / 4.25MM
*NOTE: to place a bead st, yarn over and insert crochet hook, yarn over and pull back up through, then repeat the yarn over process 3 more times.  Then yarn over and pull through all the loops on your crochet hook.  End with a CH 1.
Attach yarn to crochet hook using a Magic Circle.
Row 1: CH 2, then place 12 DC inside MC.  SL st into 1st DC st.
Row 2: CH 2, then place 2 DC in each st in the row (24 total DC st).  SL st into 1st DC st.
Row 3: CH 2, then place 1 bead st in the st behind CH 2.  *Skip the next unworked st and place 1 DC in the following st, then place 1 bead st in the skipped st.* Repeat * around the row (12 total bead st). SL st into top of 1st bead st.
Row 4: Place 1 DC in the gap between the 1st and 2nd bead st, then place 1 bead st in the gap between the last and first bead st.  *Working in the next unworked gap, place 1 DC, then place 1 bead st in the previously worked gap (this should have 1 DC in it).* Repeat * around the row.  SL st into the top of the 1st bead st.
Rows 5 – 21: Repeat Row 5.
Row 22: CH 1 and place 1 SC in each st in the row (36 total st).  SL st into 1st SC st.
Row 23: CH 9 and skip 9 st, then skip 9 st, placing 1 SC in the 10th st.  Place 1 SC in the next 8 st.  CH 9 and skip 9 st, then skip 9 st, placing 1 SC in the 10th st.  Place 1 SC in the next 8 st (this should put you at the end of the row).
Row 24: Place 9 SC AROUND the CH stitches that form the 1st handle, then place 1 SC in the st between the handles (should be 9).  Place 9 SC AROUND the CH stitches that form the 2nd handle, then place 1 SC in the st between the handles (should be 9).
Rows 25 – 29: Place 1 SC in each st in the row following a continuous loop pattern.
Finish off the wine tote by placing 1 SL st in the next 7 st (try to line these up so they are between the handles rather than on the handles).
Cut and tie off yarn.  Hide tail down the outside of the tote.
Turn the wine tote inside out.
