Candy Cane Swirl Wine Tote Pattern:

Crochet Hook: F / 5 / 3.75MM
Yarn: 4 Medium, Big Twist Value brand, Cream and Varsity Red or Varsity Green
Attach CREAM yarn to crochet hook using a Magic Circle (MC).
Row 1: Place 1 CH, 1 SC, and 5 DC inside MC.  Don’t tighten tail, but pull out the last CREAM st long and remove crochet hook.  Attach RED yarn to crochet hook using a slip knot.  Place 1 SC + 5 DC inside MC, then tighten the MC by pulling on the CREAM tail.
Row 2: Using a st marker to mark the 1st st, place 2 DC in the 1st CREAM SC st (skipping the CH 1).  Place 2 DC in each of the remaining cream st (12 total RED DC st).  Pull out RED yarn st long and remove crochet hook, inserting crochet hook in CREAM yarn and retightening the CREAM yarn down on crochet hook.  Place 2 CREAM DC st in each of the RED st (working in the 1st SC to start), until you reach the st marker (you should have 12 DC in each color, 24 total DC st.
Row 3: Remove st marker and place *1 DC in st 1, 2 DC in st 2.*  Use a st marker to mark the 1st of these DC st.  Repeat * until you get to the last RED st (you should now have 18 CREAM DC st).   Pull out last CREAM st long and reinsert your crochet hook in the RED st.  Repeat * with RED yarn until you reach the st marker (you should have 18 DC in each color, 36 DC in total).
Rows 4 – 24: Place 1 DC in each st in each row, allowing the colors to form on top of one another.  You don’t have to follow a specific pattern for this, but you can place 1 row of CREAM st and then 1 row of RED st, or place a section of stitches at a time in each color.
Row 25: Make sure that you stop this row when you have 18 of each st (or your colors are on opposite sides of one another across the wine tote).  With your CREAM yarn, CH 9, skip 8 st, and place 1 DC in the 1oth st.  Place 1 DC in the remaining 8 st until you reach your last RED st.  Pull out yarn st long and remove crochet hook, reinserting crochet hook in last RED st loop.  CH 9 with RED yarn, skip 9 st, place 1 DC in the 10th st then 1 DC in the next 8 st.  You should be back to your 1st set of CH st that mark the 1st handle.
Row 26: Place 9 RED SC st over the CREAM CH st that form the 1st handle, then place 1 SC in the 9 st located between the two handles.  Remove crochet hook from RED yarn and insert it in the CREAM yarn.  Place 9 CREAM SC st over the RED CH st that form the 2nd handle, then place 1 SC in the 9 st located between the two handles.
Rows 27 – 29: Place 1 SC in each st in each row, allowing the colors to form on top of one another.
Row 30: Make sure that your two colors are on opposite sides of your wine tote (18 st apart) and that both colors end at the end of the two handles.  *Place 1 SL st in the next 9 st, then cut and tie off yarn.*  Repeat * for next color.
Hide tails down the inside of the wine tote, or outside if you want to turn it inside out.  Tie the two starting tails together to secure the MC.
Insert wine bottle!
