How to Crochet a Bathroom Basket & Lid

How to crochet a bathroom basket?  In this crochet tutorial, I show you how to make a small bathroom basket with a lid. This free pattern is perfect if you are in need for more bathroom storage.  It should take you less than an hour to make this DIY basket!

Abbreviations used in this pattern:

  • MC – Magic Circle
  • HDC – Half Double Crochet
  • SL – Slip Stitch

Crochet Bathroom Basket Pattern:

Yarn: 4 Medium
Crochet Hook Size: F / 5 / 3.75 MM
Base:
MC
Row 1: 10 HDC inside MC.
Row 2: 2 HDC in each st (20 total st at end of row). Continuous loop pattern; use st marker to keep track of rows.
Row 3: *1 HDC in 1st st, 2 HDC next st.* Repeat * around the row (30 total st at end of row).
Row 4: *1 HDC in 1st 2 st, 2 HDC in st 3.* Repeat * around the row (40 total st at end of row).
Row 5: Place 1 HDC in the back bump st of each st across.
Rows 6 – desired height: Repeat Row 5.
Once the basket has reached your desired height, finish off by placing 1 SL in two stitches and tying off.
Lid:
Row 1: 10 HDC inside MC.
Row 2: 1 HDC in st and 1 HDC around the front post of each st (20 total st at end of row).
Row 3: *2 HDC in 1st st, 1 HDC around the front post.* Repeat * around the row (30 total st at end of row).
Row 4: * 1 HDC in st 1, 2 HDC in st 2, HDC around front post st 3.* Repeat * around the row (40 total st at end of row).
Row 5: * 1 HDC in st 1 and st 2, 2 HDC in st 3, HDC around front post st 4.* Repeat * around the row (50 total st at end of row).
Finish off by placing 1 SL in the next 2 st.  Tie off yarn.
Top loop:
CH 6, SL into back bump of 1st CH.  Tie of yarn and attach to the top of the lid.
