Attach yarn to crochet hook using a slip knot.
Row 1: CH 15, turn.
Row 2: Place 1 SC in each of the BACK BUMPS (15 total SC st). CH 1, turn. Please note that the CH 1 at the end of each row forming the handle is a turning CH and should not be counted as a st.
Row 3: Place 1 SC in each st in the row (15 total SC st). CH 1, turn.
Row 4: Place 1 SC in the 1st 6 st, then SC 2together in st 7 &8. Place 1 SC in each of the remaining st in the row (14 total SC st). CH 1, turn.
Row 5: Place 1 SC in each st in the row (14 total SC st). CH 1, turn.
Row 6: Place 1 SC in each st in the row (14 total SC st). CH 1, turn.
Row 7: Place 1 SC in each st in the row, SC 2together somewhere in the middle of the row – this doesn’t need to be in exact stitches, but avoid the outer stitches (13 total SC st). CH 1, turn.
Rows 8 – 31: Repeat Rows 5 – 7 until you have decreased down to 4 stitches in the latest row.
Rows 32 – 60: Place 1 SC in each st in the row. CH 1, turn.
Row 61: Place 1 SC in each st in the row, but in one of the center stitches, place 2 SC st (5 total SC st). CH 1, turn.
Row 62: Place 1 SC in each st in the row (5 total SC st). CH 1, turn.
Row 63: Place 1 SC in each st in the row (5 total SC st). CH 1, turn.
Rows 64 -93: Repeat Rows 61 – 64. You should end with 15 stitches in the latest row + 2 rows of SC in each st in the row at 15 stitches.
Row 94: CH 11, join with corresponding other end of handle (fold handle in half and it should be the stitch directly on top of or below the corner where you started the CH 11). To join, place 1 SC in the corresponding st, then 1 SC in the remaining 14 st of the handle. CH 11, repeat the process of finding the corresponding st on the other handle, then join by placing 1 SC in each st of the handle.
Row 95: Jumping right into the CH stitches created in Row 94, place 1 SC in each of the BACK BUMPS of the CH 11. Then place 1 SC in each of the handle st (15 total). Then place 1 SC in the BACK BUMPS of each of the CH 11 st.
Row 96: Place 1 SL st in the 1st st forming the handle and CH 1. Then place 1 SC in the BLO of each st in the row, starting with the next st and ending with the SL st at the end of the row (52 total SC st). SL st into 1st SC to join.
Row 97: CH 1, place 1 SC in each st in the row, starting with the next st and ending with the SL st at the end of the row (52 total SC st). SL st in 1st SC to join.
Row 98: For this row, we are going to be working in the top portion of our latest row as well as the FLO stitches created in the previous row. Locate the FLO directly below the st where you placed the SL st. Working in the following FLO, place 1 TR, then working in the top portion of the latest row, place 1 SC in the next 3 st. *Yarn over 2x and insert the crochet hook back in the same FLO that you just worked. Yarn over and pull up through the loop, then yarn over and drop 2 loops at a time until you have 2 loops remaining on the crochet hook. From here, yarn over once and skip the next 3 front loops. In the 4th FLO from the current, insert the crochet hook. Yarn over and pull up through the FLO, then yarn over and drop 2 loops. Yarn over and drop the last 3 loops. Working back in the top portion of the st, place 1 SC in the 3 stitches above the current FLO.* Repeat * around the row. Join at the end of the row by yarning over twice and inserting the crochet hook in the last FLO that you just worked. Then yarn over and drop 2 loops at a time until you have 2 loops remaining on the crochet hook. Yarn over once and insert the crochet hook under the POST that forms the 1st TR of this row. Yarn over and drop all the loops the crochet hook for a SL st. SL st in the top of the 1st TR st.
Row 99: CH 1, place 1 SC in the same st where you just placed the SL st, then place 1 SC in each st in the row (52 total SC st). SL st in 1st SC to join.
Row 100: CH 1, place 1 SC in the same st where you just placed the SL st, then place 1 SC in each st in the row (52 total SC st). SL st in 1st SC to join.
Row 101: Yarn over twice and insert crochet hook under the POSTS that form the peak directly below the crochet hook. Yarn over and pull up through the POSTS, then yarn over and drop 2 loops at a time until you have 2 loops remaining on the crochet hook. Yarn over once and insert the crochet hook under the two POSTS that form the next peak. Yarn over and pull up through the POSTS, then yarn over and drop 2 loops, then yarn over and drop the last 3 loops. Working in the top portion of the last row, place 1 SC in the 3 stitches above the last peak worked. *Yarn over twice and insert crochet hook under the POSTS that form the peak directly below the crochet hook (where you just worked). Working in the top portion of the last row, place 1 SC in the 3 stitches above the last peak worked.* Repeat * around the row, join by working * in the last and first peaks of this row. SL st in the 1st st to join.
Rows 102 – : Repeat Rows 99 – 101 until you have 12 weaving intersections, then add 1 row of SC stitches following the same pattern in Row 99.
Place 1 SL st in each st in the row until you get to the next natural fold (when you lay the purse down flat – this should be in the center of the next handle).
Turn the purse inside out.
Join the two edges of the bottom of the purse by placing 1 SL st in the corresponding stitches on each side of the purse. Follow this pattern in each st until you reach the other natural fold and all stitches have been worked in.
Cut and tie off yarn, hiding the tail along the bottom ridge.
Turn purse inside out again.
