How to make a single crochet stitch using yarn and a crochet hook:
- Attach yarn to your crochet hook and chain 5.
- Turn your work by turning your crochet hook. Yarn over and insert your crochet hook in the 2nd chain from your hook. To do this, you want to insert your hook in between the stitch that makes a “V” and the back loop. You should have 3 loops on your crochet hook.
- Yarn over and pull the yarn through the top 2 loops on your crochet hook. Yarn over again and pull the yarn through the last 2 loops on your hook. You have now completed 1 single crochet (SC) stitch (ST).
- To add a 2nd SC ST, insert your hook in the next chain. Yarn over and pull the yarn through the top 2 loops on your hook. Yarn over again and pull through the last 2 loops on your crochet hook.
