Crochet Sunglasses Case Tutorial

SPRING IS HERE!
Which means it is time to wipe the dust off those sunglasses and start wearing them!  I used to break my sunglasses ALL THE TIME before I started crocheting cases for them.  This crochet sunglasses case tutorial is very simple to make, and shouldn’t take you more than a half hour to complete!
This crochet project is a part of my ONE SKEIN CHALLENGE YAY!  This is the final project in my challenge, which is essentially: how many crochet projects can I make using only one skein of yarn?  These projects will vary in size, but should all be around the same complexity.  For this challenge, I focused on gift ideas for around the home.  They would be excellent gift bundle for a house warming party!  See the other crochet projects in this series below.

Closable Sunglasses Case Crochet Pattern!

Crochet Hook: H/8/5.00MM
Yarn: 4 Medium, Big Twist Value brand
Color: Eggplant
DIY Crochet Button: https://youtu.be/R5vM3F-Szzk
Get the Toggle Button here: https://www.joann.com/la-mode-2-pk-1.25-toggle-buttons-brown/1845858.html
*NOTE: this is a continuous loop pattern, which means we won’t be starting and stopping our individual rows, but instead our pattern is going to act like a spiral.
Attach yarn to crochet hook using a slip knot.
Row 1: CH 14, turn.
Row 2: Skip the 1st CH st, then place 1 SC in the BLO of each st in the row (13 total).  Turn work slightly so you can work in the FLO of the CH stitches from Row 1, then place 1 SC in each of the FLO (13 total).  This should create a round pattern with 26 SC stitches.
Rows 3 – 20: Following a continuous loop pattern, place 1 SC in the BLO of each st in each row.  When you get around to the starting tail, crochet over it.
Row 21: CH 40 and draw the chain stitches around the edge of the top of your sunglasses case, then place 1 SL st back in the last st from the previous row while also crocheting over the beginning of your chain loop.  Place 1 SC in the BLO of the next 6 stitches, crocheting over the chain loop as you place the stitches.  Pull out roughly 14 chains, then continue placing the SC stitches in the BLO as well as over the chain loop.  This should create a loop that will fasten around the toggle button.  SL st in the BLO of the very last st of the row – crocheting over the chain loop as well,  and then place 1 SL st in the next st.
Cut and tie off yarn.
Attach the toggle button or crocheted button in the center of the sunglasses case, roughly lining up with the drop-down loop.
