How to Crochet a Slouchy Beanie Tutorial – Knit-Like Alternating Colors

How to crochet a beanie with alternating colors?  In this tutorial, I walk you through how to crochet this knit-like beanie.  This pattern switches between two different colors to create this quick to crochet beanie.  I suggest using a solid color for Color A and a multi-colored yarn for Color B to give it a similar look to this one.

How to crochet this multi-colored knit-like beanie:

Crochet Hook: F / 5 / 3.75MM
Yarn Size: 4 Medium
BRIM:
Row 1: Using Color A, attach yarn to crochet hook, CH 7, turn (7 total st).
Row 2: SL in BACK BUMP of each st across, CH 1, turn (7 total st).
Rows: SL in Back Loop Only (BLO) of each st across, CH 1, turn (7 total st).
Repeat Row 3 until brim stretches around head.  I crocheted this one to 14 inches.
Attach edges by lining the edges together (I like to make sure that my current st and the tail from the 1st row are on opposite sides before I crochet the edges together).  Place SL the stitches together by inserting the hook in the Front Loop Only of the row closest to you, and the Back Loop Only of the row furthest from you and pulling through both loops for a SL.  Repeat for all 7 stitches.
MAIN:
Row 1: Using Color B, add 1 CH.  Place 96 SC around the brim (use st markers to help you count).
Row 2: Place 1 SL in each st around the row.
Rows 3 – 6: Repeat Row 2.
Row 7: Move hook within the loop so that you are working in the opposite direction of previous row.  Switch to Color A and CH 4. SL in BACK BUMP of the 4 CH st. *SL into next 2 st on brim. Turn work.  Skip 2 st and SL BLO up next 4 st, CH 1, turn work. SL BLO down next 4 st.* Repeat * for the rest of the row.
Rows 8 – 15: Repeat Rows 1 – 7.
Rows 16 – 23: Repeat Rows 1-7.
Row 24: Using Color B, add 1 CH.  Place 88 SC around the brim (use st markers to help you count).
Row 25: * 1 SC in next 9 st, SC 2 together st 10 & 11. * Repeat * around the row (80 total st at end of row).
Row 26:  * 1 SC in next 8 st, SC 2 together st 9 & 10. * Repeat * around the row (72 total st at end of row).
